AUSTIN - The Houston Cougar men's and women's track and field teams posted some of the top times and marks on the second day of the 88th Annual Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, on Thursday.
Sophomore javelin thrower Jack Thomas got the day started off right for Houston with a third place finish in the men's javelin. The Sugar Land, Texas native threw a personal record 66.21m (217-2) on his final attempt of the day.
Sophomore distance runner Brian Barraza continued his impressive sophomore season with a second place finish in the 1500m run. Barraza logged a personal best 3:48.50, and is now just four seconds off the school record set by Patrick Picciano in 1988.
Senior distance runner Drevan Anderson-Kaapa put together an exciting performance in the 800m Invitational run after finishing in fifth place at 1:50.46. Anderson-Kaapa's run was just behind 2012 Olympic Silver Medalist's (1500m) Leo Manzano's winning time.
The Cougars also got impressive performances in limited action from Caleb Holl (55.05) and Sade-Mariah Greenidge (1:01.09) in the men's and women's 400m hurdles, and from Angelica Thompson (36.89m) in the women's javelin.
