BAYLOR 9, HOUSTON 4 - BOX SCORE
Houston jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Katie St. Pierre led off with base hit slap back to the pitcher, advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kaylin Crumpton. A Baylor error moved St. Pierre to third before Shelby Miller knocked an RBI single to right field.
The Bears gained the lead 6-1 off a four-run second inning and a couple Houston errors.
In the top of the fourth, the Cougars started a rally as Julana Shrum roped her seventh home run of the season, 16th of her career. Back-to-back walks placed runners on first and second as Crumpton singled up the middle, bringing in Kayla Holland followed by a wild pitch that brought in St. Pierre. Houston shortened the Bears lead 6-4.
Baylor would eventually extend its lead to 9-4 off five hits in the fourth and sixth innings.
Crumpton picked up her 15th hit-by-pitch of the season during game one. She jumps to fourth in school history for most HBP in a single season.
Shrum (4-8) took the loss for the Cougars pitching a complete game, allowing only six earned runs, while striking out two. Toben earned the win for the Bears pitching only 0.2 innings and giving up a hit.
