Houston Softball Honors Military with Salute to Service Game

HOUSTON - In honor of those serving our country, Houston Softball will host the Salute to Service game during the Cougars' conference home opener when they welcome USF Saturday.
The teams will play a doubleheader with game one beginning at 1 p.m.
Active Duty military, veterans and first responders will receive free admission at the gate with a military ID and the first 250 fans into the stadium will receive a rally towel.
Houston Softball student-athletes will wear a special camouflage jersey with an active duty military or veteran's last name on the backs.
After entering Cougar Softball Stadium, fans have the chance to remember a hero by writing their name on a ribbon and tying it along the fence.
Flag presentation in the outfield for the national anthem will open the game along with a special Wounded Warrior guest will be on hand to throw out the first pitch.
Along with all the promotions, fans may bring 2+ items on the approved list below for Operation Gratitude and receive a coupon for $1 off at the concession stand. Operation Gratitude is an organization that collects snacks, entertainment, hygiene and handmade items and sends care packages to new recruits, veterans, first responders, wounded warriors, care givers and to individually named U.S. deployed military members.
Here is a list of items fans can bring for the care packages:
- Socks - black, brown, dark green or tan (NOT WHITE), men's sizes, extra comfort
- Roll on deodorant (both full and travel size)
- Lip balm
- Mouthwash (both full and travel size)
- Floss
- Toothpaste (both full and travel size)
- Toothbrushes (both full and travel size)
- Travel size foot powder
- Used cell phones
- Pens
- Stationary sets
- Sport water bottles - less than 11" in height
- Deck of cards
- Travel size games
- Hand & Foot warmers
- Moist towelettes - individual packets
- Mini battery-operated fans
- Greeting cards - holiday, birthday, anniversary, any occasion (for them to send home to loved ones)

Fans can purchase season tickets online by visiting UHCougars.com/SBtickets and following the appropriate links or by clicking here.
To purchase tickets in person, fans can visit the Athletics Ticket Office located on the northeast corner of TDECU Stadium, just outside of Gate 1 off Cullen Boulevard. Parking is available in the TDECU Stadium parking garage with the first 30 minutes free of charge. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
All UH main campus students are admitted FREE to regular-season softball home games with a valid student ID.
SINGLE-GAME TICKETS ON SALE NOW
Fans can purchase general admission single-game tickets beginning as low as $5 for youth and $8 for adults through UHCougars.com or by contacting the Houston Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647).
While single-game tickets are available, fans are encouraged to save and purchase 2015 season tickets. General admission season tickets are just $75 for 28 home games ($2.68 per ticket).
