PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Houston senior Elena Kordolaimi has been honored as American Athletic Conference Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced today. This is Kordolaimi's first weekly honor this season and the third of her career.
The Lamia, Greece native went 2-0 last week to lead Houston to a pair of victories. Against Missouri on Feb. 20, Kordolaimi earned a 6-1, 6-3 win over Cassidy Spearman. Two days later, she dropped Sarah Richter of No. 48 Utah, 6-2, 6-3. Both points were important factors in 4-2 wins for the Cougars.
Ranked No. 90 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in last week's national rankings, Kordolaimi is riding a 12-match individual winning streak, the best of her career. She is 17-4 overall in singles matches.
