Distance Impresses in Final Tune Up

HOUSTON - The Houston Men's Distance Medley Relay team ran the top time in the American Athletic Conference as the Cougars competed in their final meet before the American Indoor Championships, at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
Houston clocked an 11th place finish in 9:37.94 at the Alex Wilson Invitational to set the top mark among American Athletic Conference teams by beating Tulsa's time of 9:49.47, which was run at the Razorback Invitational on Jan. 30.
Senior Yonas Tesfai ran the 1200m portion of the 4000m race before passing the baton to fellow senior teammate Dominique Charles to run the 400m. Senior Drevan Anderson-Kaapa ran the 800m third leg while sophomore Brian Barraza anchored the race with the 1600m leg.
Senior Anthony Coleman also competed for Houston, running the 800m in 1:54.48 to finish 16th overall.
UP NEXT FOR HOUSTON
With the majority of Houston's student-athletes having this weekend off from competition, the Cougars look ahead to next week's American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships to be held Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28 at The Armory in New York, N.Y.
