HOUSTON - Houston Softball embarks on its 15th season as the Cougars begin on the road at the NCAA Sand Dollar Classic hosted by The Fieldhouse in Gulf Shores, Ala.
The following weekend, Softball returns to Houston for the season home opener as the Cougars host the Houston Hilton Plaza Invitational at Cougar Softball Stadium.
Today, Head Coach Kyla Holas and several members of the 2015 team spoke to the media about the upcoming season.
"I think the biggest question is obviously about pitching. We're really excited about adding two newcomers to our staff," Holas said. "Shelby Miller and Kaya Maxwell, a transfer and a freshman. I think they'll really do some big things for us, give us that depth and hopefully increase our strikeouts and lower era's. It's nice to see some of our key leaders back.
"We're really excited to have Selena Hernandez at short stop again and Kayla Holland whose in the infield and Katie St. Pierre in center field and Sydney Gerbracht. So that is some of our big returners offensively for us that we've counted on throughout the years. Hopefully we'll have a great season we're really looking forward to it."

To purchase tickets in person, fans can visit the Athletics Ticket Office located on the northeast corner of TDECU Stadium, just outside of Gate 1 off Cullen Boulevard. Parking is available in the TDECU Stadium parking garage with the first 30 minutes free of charge. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
All UH main campus students are admitted FREE to regular-season softball home games with a valid student ID.
SINGLE-GAME TICKETS ON SALE NOW
Fans can purchase general admission single-game tickets beginning as low as $5 for youth and $8 for adults through UHCougars.com or by contacting the Houston Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647).
While single-game tickets are available, fans are encouraged to save and purchase 2015 season tickets. General admission season tickets are just $75 for 28 home games ($2.68 per ticket). Fans can also purchase season tickets online by clicking here or calling the ticket office 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647).
