HOUSTON - The University of Houston Softball team dropped a 2-1 decision to New Mexico Thursday night during game one of the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic.

The Cougars fall to 6-9 overall while the Lobos improve to 5-6 on the season.

Designated player Courtney Klingler scored the Cougars only run of the night as she roped her third home run of the season. The homer also marked the third of the season in Cougar Softball Stadium.

Starting pitcher Summer Groholski (1-2) took the loss for the Cougars as she pitched five shutout innings before giving up two runs off two hits in the bottom of the sixth.

Carrie Sheehan (2-1) picked up the win for the Lobos while relief pitcher Krissy Fortner nabbed her second save of the season.

UP NEXT
Houston returns for day two of the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic as the Cougars host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 4 p.m. followed by a game against Illinois at 6:30 p.m.

Parking is available in the TDECU Stadium parking garage with the first 30 minutes free of charge. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

All UH main campus students are admitted FREE to regular-season softball home games with a valid student ID.

SINGLE-GAME TICKETS ON SALE NOW
Fans can purchase general admission single-game tickets beginning as low as $5 for youth and $8 for adults through UHCougars.com or by contacting the Houston Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647).

While single-game tickets are available, fans are encouraged to save and purchase 2015 season tickets. General admission season tickets are just $75 for 28 home games ($2.68 per ticket).
