Brookah Palmer Named AVCA All-Region

LEXINGTON, Ky. â€" Freshman hitter Brookah Palmer was named to the AVCA All-Southeast Region Honorable Mention team for her standout rookie season.
She is one of four student-athletes from the American Athletic Conference to be honored including three athletes from conference champions SMU. She joins Kadi Kullerkann as the second Cougar in two years to earn a spot on one of the All-Region teams.
Following the 2015 season, Palmer was a unanimous selection for the All-Conference First Team becoming the first freshman Cougars to be named to the first team and only the second cougar in three years to accomplish this feat.
The freshman was the third best hitter in the league. She tallied 285 digs in 71 sets played, averaging 4.01 kills per set. Palmer also led the conference with 30 service aces (0.42 aces per set) and was the top scorer with 4.62 points per set.
This season, Palmer was named the American Offensive Player of the Week twice including the first week of the year. She was named to three all-tournament teams and was the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic MVP during tourney play and claimed two honor roll spots.
Following the announcement, Palmer will be considered for the AVCA All-America honor to be announced on Dec. 16.
