Houston Baseball Spotlight: Tanner Lawson

Tanner Lawson, a freshman left-handed pitcher, comes to Houston after splitting his high school career at Riverside HS before ending his career at Klein Oak HS. He helped his teams to three playoff appearances, including a State Runner-Up position in 2012. READ MORE on Tanner Lawson
Q: When did you start playing baseball?
TL: I started playing baseball when I was four years old because I wanted to try to play every sport.
Q: Who was your role model growing up?
TL: My role model growing up was my dad because he did anything and everything to support and protect our family.
Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what would you take?
TL: I would take the Bible to have something to read, a knife, and a water filter.
Q: What are three wishes you have?
TL: Wisdom, a Lamborghini, and a good job that provides for my family
Q: Why was the University of Houston the right fit for you?
TL: University of Houston was the right choice because it is great place to go, was close enough for my family to come watch me play and because I want to win a national championship and this is the place to achieve that.
Q: If you could eat lunch with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
TL: I would eat with my dad's grandfather just to see his reaction of what I have become and to see how proud he is of me.
Q: If you ran a concession stand at an MLB ballpark, what would it be called and what would be your signature item?
TL: Lawson's Louisiana Seafood Catering Service. My item: Crawfish Fettuccine
Q: If a former coach or teammate were asked to describe you, what would they say?
TL: I think they would say I'm a coachable player with great character.
Q: What are you looking forward to most during your freshman season?
TL: I'm looking forward to building chemistry with my new teammates and doing my best to help my team win in any situation.
