Houston Volleyball Falls to UConn

STORRS, Conn. â€" Houston Volleyball fell to UConn in three sets (21-25, 19-25, 25-27) Sunday afternoon to conclude the first round of conference play.
Houston falls to 15-7 overall, 5-5 in the American Athletic Conference while UConn improved to 11-10, 5-5 in league play.
Both teams battled back and forth, but UConn held onto the lead for most of the match. Service errors, attack errors and ball handling errors plagued the Cougars offense that led to UConn's win.
Freshman hitter Brookah Palmer led the Cougars with 12 kills, two aces, six digs and a block. Sophomores Sarah Afflerbaugh and Shelby Harper were the Cougars most effective hitters against the Huskies. Afflerbaugh tallied a .273 hitting average with five kills while Harper hit .235 with six kills, two digs and three blocks.
Senior libero Olivia O'Dell racked up 12 digs in the three-set match to mark her 21st straight double-digit dig match.
NEXT SERVE
Houston Volleyball returns home next weekend to begin the second round of conference play. The Cougars are set to host UCF on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. and USF on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.
