HOUSTON - Houston head coach Tom Herman has named Fernando Lovo Director of Operations and Adrian Mayes Director of Recruiting. In addition to the two additions, Herman promoted former Houston Football letterwinner Marcus McGraw to Director of Player Personnel and Tory Teykl to Director of Internal Operations.
Lovo comes to Houston after three seasons at the Ohio State University where he served as the program's Football Operations Coordinator.
Prior to his time with the Buckeyes, Lovo was a member of the University of Florida Football program for five years as a football operations assistant from 2008-11 and a student manager for the Gators from 2007-08. Lovo earned a bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in business at Florida before earning his master's degree in sports management at the school.
Mayes returns to the city of Houston after one season at Ohio State as the program's offensive graduate assistant. Prior to his time in Columbus, Mayes spent three seasons at Rice, where he worked with both the offensive and defensive lines and helped the Owls to a conference championship in 2013 and two Bowl games. His coaching experience also includes a minority internship with the New York Jets running backs in the spring and summer of 2013.
Mayes played football at the University of Kansas where he developed into the Jayhawks' offensive lineman of the year as a senior. He was a two-year starter and a member of a Jayhawk program that went to three bowl games. He was a two-time honorable mention All-Big 12 selection and also excelled in the classroom, earning back-to-back spots on the Big 12 All-Academic second team.
Mayes has both bachelor's (business management leadership) and master's (sport management) degrees from Kansas. He served as a Graduate Assistant on KU's Strength and Conditioning staff while earning his masters.
McGraw, Houston's all-time leading tackler, moves to Director of Player Personnel after serving the 2014 season as Associate Director of Football Operations.
McGraw earned a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Kinesiology-Sports Administration and a minor in Health Studies from the University of Houston in May of 2012.
Following his collegiate playing career, McGraw served as a Cougar Pride Development Assistant before joining the Arizona Cardinals for the team's 2012 preseason camp.
Teykl shifts to Director of Internal Operations after serving the 2014 season as Director of Operations. Teykl spent the 2013 season as the program's Associate Director of Football Operations, her first as a member of the UH football staff after spending four years in the Houston Athletics Marketing Department as Director for Marketing and Promotions.
