Houston Volleyball Snaps Memphis' Win Streak

HOUSTON - Houston Volleyball snapped Memphis' nine-game win streak as the Cougars took a four-set win (26-24, 25-17, 21-25, 25-17) Sunday afternoon.
Houston (9-5, 1-1 The American) held the Tigers (11-5, 1-1 The American) to a hitting average below .100 in two of the four sets.
The Cougar opened with a 26-24 win in set one, holding Memphis to a .295 hitting average (19-6-44) while the Cougar defense put up 4.0 team blocks. The Cougars took a 2-0 lead heading into the half was a quick 25-17 win in set two.
The Tigers came out of the half with a chip on their shoulder and took the third set, 25-21. But Houston didn't let that last long as the Cougars quickly took set four, 25-17.
Houston finished with a season high of 12.0 blocks and 62 digs.
Senior right side Cortney Warren finished with her third consecutive 20+kill performance of the season. She knocked 25 kills (.333 hitting pct.) and put up four boards for the Cougar Defense. Senior outside hitter Kadi Kullerkann notched 17 kills against the Tigers, recording a .448 hitting average.
Senior Natalie Keck dug out 24 balls once again, her seventh 20-dig performance of the season.

Houston travels to New Orleans, La., for its first road match of the 2014 American Athletic Conference season. The Cougars take on Tulane Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
