Houston Volleyball Takes a 3-1 Victory Over Oral Roberts

HOUSTON - University of Houston took a 3-1 win (19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-23) over Oral Roberts on day one of the 2014 Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup Friday evening in front of 507 fans.
The Cougars (5-2) dropped the first set 25-19 to Oral Roberts (5-5). Houston rallied back to win three straight sets, 25-18, 25-21, 25-23.
In the second set, Houston took a 6-1 lead forcing the Golden Eagles to call a timeout. From there the Cougars went on a 4-1 run before Oral Roberts used its second and final timeout of the set.
Houston held the Golden Eagles to a .027 hitting average with 11 kills and 10 hitting errors.
Senior right side Cortney Warren finished the match with 16 kills and six blocks. Senior hitter Kadi Kullerkann followed with 11 kills.
Houston defense was on point at senior middle Kaiti Waters picked up seven blocks against ORU. She also recorded four kills on six attempts (.667 hitting average). Middle blocker Hunter Wise also had a top-notched game picking up eight kills, averaging .333.
UP NEXT
The Cougars take the court tomorrow morning as they continue the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup. Houston is set to host Sam Houston State at 11 a.m. followed by a match against Louisiana-Lafayette at 3 p.m. A free clinic will be held following the final match for all students 8th grade and younger.
