ON HOUSTON (23-10 | 9-0)
The Cougars are riding an 11-game winning streak after sweeping UConn, Louisville and Temple to start American Athletic Conference play first in the league. Houston has also earned wins over Texas and No. 18 Texas A&M during the winning streak.
UH ranks No. 16 in the nation in scoring averaging 6.39 runs per game after outscoring UConn 36-8 over the weekend. Five Cougars have scored over 20 runs this season with leadoff batter Selena Hernandez leading the pack with her total of 33.
Haley Outon paces the program in the power department with her nine home runs and 35 RBI. After last weekend, Outon now holds the school single-season and career records for home runs and RBI, holding a monopoly over the power numbers. She now has 179 RBI in her career and 52 home runs.
Diedre Outon holds Houston's lowest ERA (2.44) and best record (11-5) for the UH pitching crew and moved into a tie for the fifth-most career wins picking up No. 40 last weekend. Julana Shrum (8-3) earned the win for UH against No. 18 Texas A&M last week and sports a 3.37 ERA.
ON BAYLOR (28-6 | 3-1)
Baylor enters the series after winning 16 of their last 18 games. The Bears will look to stop the potent UH attack with one of the nation's top pitching staffs who have combined to hold the No. 6 ERA in the country at 1.39.
All three of the Baylor hurlers posses sub-2.00 ERAs with Heather Stearns' 1.05 mark ranking best on the staff. Whitney Canion holds a 1.51 mark and a 15-5 record throwing 144 strikeouts in 111.1 innings. Stearns has 86 over 73.0 innings of work to support her 10-1 record.
