Houston Interim Head Coach- Wade Scott
Opening Statement:
"You got to give a lot of credit to Louisville. They did a great job. I think a measure of a great team is they take you out of what you want to do. They jumped around screens and made it difficult for us to score. [Walz] does a great job, but I'm proud of our kids. They played hard and just kind of came up short."
Putting the season into perspective:
"The season was tough. We had to heal some psyches. We had to get some people their confidence back, but at the same time this group of girls--I couldn't have asked for a better group. I know it doesn't show up on the win/loss record, but at the same time I wouldn't have done it with anyone else."
Sophomore guard- Jessieka Palmer
Thoughts on the season:
"The season was definitely filled with ups and downs. Like coach said, it didn't go the way we planned, but at the same time through all the bad there was some good because all 14 of us who were in the locker room--we all became family. We're all sisters. I know a lot of teams say that, but we built lifetime bonds together this season."
Senior forward- Destini Texada
On playing her final game:
"It was just like the season. We had our ups and downs throughout the season and throughout this game. We came in this tournament as the lowest ranked team and we showed everybody that we can play last night when we beat Memphis. They came out and they thought they were going to beat us and we showed up. Tonight, we tried to show up the same way. We know Louisville is a very good team, but we've been through everything. We've had adversity all year. And, if I learned anything about myself and my teammates, I know that we can take it and we can ride it out."
