HOUSTON--- University of Houston student-athletes took a break from studying and practices last week to spend some time with the kids from the Generation One Academy.
The Cougars interacted with the kids while having a good dinner, playing games, and taking pictures. The night ended with the every kid receiving a Valentine's Day gift from the various UH athletic teams in attendance.
"I was actually in PALS in high school and I love working with little kids," said UH junior softball player Kayla Holland. "I have younger siblings at home so helping the kids just humbles you and brings happiness to your heart."
The Generation One Academy has hosted over 26,000 volunteers in an effort to help "at risk" kids of all ages in and around the Houston area. For more information on the organization, visit www.generationone.net
