HOUSTON - There's still time to secure your spot at the University of Houston Softball program's last Winter Camp slated Jan. 17, 2015.
Campers ages 6-12 are welcome to come to the General Skills Camp where they can learn from Head Coach Kyla Holas and the rest of the Houston Softball team. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an hour break for lunch. The camp is $100 per athlete.
The General Skills Camp will cover the fundamentals of every aspect of the game of softball including offense, defense and base running.
The defensive aspect will include the breakdown of proper throwing mechanics and fielding drills. Position play and team defense will be incorporated through modified scrimmages and one-on-one instruction from camp counselors.
During the offensive sessions, campers will learn the University of Houston Softball philosophy of hitting by working with collegiate level athletes and learning the importance of being an offensive powerhouse. The campers will also work on fundamentals such as bunting and base running.
For questions regarding camps, visit houstonsportcamps.com/softball or contact Director of Softball Operations Michael Palmer at mlpalmer@central.UH.edu or call 713-743-9381.
