HOUSTON -
Junior defender Sydnie Green has been named 2014 CollegeSportsMadness.Com Second Team All-American Athletic Conference, the website announced.
The Corona, Calif., native played 1,323 minutes for the Cougar back line and logged full-time in 13 of the 15 matches she appeared in. Green also registered her first career point as a Cougar on an assist in the team's game at USF on Oct. 3.
"Sydnie really stepped up this season and really took control of our back line," head coach Chris Pfau said. "In conference she was one of the best players in the league. She was dominant, tough to beat and a physical presence for us in the back. Her growth this year along with the team was exciting to see, and I'm very pleased to see this rewarded."
Since transferring in from Missouri after her freshman season, Green has started 31 games on defense, while logging 2,732 minutes in her two seasons at Houston.
