Houston Volleyball Wraps Up 2014 Season

HOUSTON - The University of Houston Volleyball wrapped up the 2014 season as the Cougars fell 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 16-25, 14-25) to Temple on Friday night.
Houston ended the season 14-18, ninth in the American Athletic Conference with a record of 6-14. The Owls clinched third place in the conference with a 16-5 record, finishing 23-8 overall.
The Cougars jumped out to an early lead with a 25-23 victory in set one. Senior hitter Kadi Kullerkann notched six kills, hitting .364. After a block by two Temple players, Houston gained momentum with a 6-1 run and took a 14-12 lead in the first set. The Owls were forced to take a timeout.
From there, the Owls didn't back down as they took three straight sets.
Kullerkann led the Cougars with 15 kills, two digs and a block. The Estonian native finished the season with 644 kills, averaging 5.03 kills per set. She moved up to the third most kills in a single season. Fellow hitter Cortney Warren followed with 12 kills, hitting .242, four digs and a block.
Natalie Keck finished the match with 24 digs and two aces. The senior libero closed the season with a total of 654 digs, the third most digs in a single season.
