Houston Volleyball Drops 3-2 to ECU

HOUSTON - After taking a quick 2-0 lead, the University of Houston Volleyball team dropped 3-2 (25-14, 25-15, 18-25, 27-29, 13-15) to East Carolina Sunday afternoon.
Houston fell to 9-7 and 1-3 in the American Athletic Conference while ECU (8-5, 1-3) picked up its first conference win as new members.
The Cougars took a 2-0 lead heading into the half. They held the Pirates to less than 15 points and a hitting average under .100. ECU came out of the half with energy as they pushed their way to a 25-18 win to keep their hopes alive.
ECU continued its momentum through the fourth set and finished with another win, 29-27, forcing a decisive fifth set. The Pirates clinched the match with a 15-13 win in set five.
Senior outside hitter Kadi Kullerkann led the team with 27 kills, three blocks, hitting .385 against the Pirates. This match marked the Estonian native's seventh 20-kill match. Her performance tied for eighth all time for kills in a four-set match.
Freshman setter Keandra McCardell picked up her third double-double of her career with 42 assists and 13 digs.
UP NEXT
 Houston travels to Dallas, Texas, for another conference meeting against SMU Friday at 7 p.m. The Cougars then make their way to Tulsa, Okla., to face new conference foe Tulsa at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
