Final Stats
HOUSTON - The Houston Cougar soccer team fell 3-1 to USF in American Athletic Conference action Friday in Tampa, Fla.
Houston got a second-half goal by junior midfielder Lexa Green, but the Cougars came up just short in their comeback bid.
USF got on the scoreboard in the first half, when Olivia Chance put a shot into the upper right corner of the net from 16 yards out. Chance would add another goal in the second half to give her five on the season.
"We have moments of good and moments of bad," head coach Chris Pfau said. "And when we have these moments of bad we don't know how to absorb it."
Houston found its offense in the second half and was able to climb back into the game when Green scored on a breakaway goal after junior defender Sydnie Green connected on a long pass over the top of the field. Green's goal was her team-leading fourth on the season, and she has now scored in four of the team's last five games dating back to Houston Baptist on Sept. 12.
"The big thing for us as we play the next couple of games is not making the game bigger than it is," Pfau said. "We put too much pressure on ourselves and make these teams great. We just need to go out and do our job and work hard and good things will happen."

Houston travels to Orlando, Fla. on Sunday Oct. 5 to take on American Athletic Conference leader No. 22 UCF at noon. The Knights are the only remaining undefeated team in conference play and are led by defending American Athletic Conference Most Outstanding Offensive Player, Tatiana Coleman.
