HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team closes out the regular season hosting Mississippi State (32-21) at Cougar Softball Stadium on Monday at 6 p.m.
The Cougars are batting .293 as a team and reaching base at a .402 clip. Four batters are above .300 and three rank among the top six in C-USA with Holly Anderson (.385), Katie St. Pierre (.361) and Haley Outon (.356) leading the pack.
Bailey Watts is 18-5 on the year with a 2.10 ERA and picked up a win against UAB over the weekend throwing 10 strikeouts, one shy of her career high. Diedre Outon, last week's C-USA Pitcher of the Week, went 1-1 against the Blazers to give her a 10-6 record with a 2.90 ERA.
MSU is batting .272 as a team with three batters above .300 - Sam Lenahan (.336), Jessica Offutt (.315), and Logan Foulks (.313). Foulks leads the team in home runs with 13 Lenahan and Foulks rank No. 1 and 2 in RBI with 39 and 36, respectively.
Alison Owen and Stephanie Becker have started 24 games a piece with Owen owning a 16-11 record and Becker going 10-8. Owen has a 2.01 ERA with Becker possessing a 3.52 mark.
