Softball Opens Up C-USA Action at Southern Miss

The Cougars have won ten straight games against the Golden Eagles dating back to the 2009 Conference USA tournament. In the ten meetings Houston has outscored Southern Miss 67-21.
Senior infielder Holly Anderson will look to continue her winning ways for the Cougars as they enter conference play. Anderson leads the team in batting average (.385) and multiple-hit games (5).
Between the two games in Norman, the Cougars would get great pitching performances from junior Bailey Watts and sophomore Summer Groholski who each defeated Oklahoma State in a double-header, 4-3 and 4-1 respectively.
The Golden Eagles most recently wrapped up the Renegade Classic hosted by Florida State by going 2-3 with their wins coming against Appalachian State and host team Florida State.
Sophomore infielder Caroline Walker has been a force for Southern Miss at the plate this season. In 23 games she has tallied a .362 batting average with nine doubles, one triple, one homerun and 14 RBI.
