HOUSTON - After a solid start the University of Houston volleyball couldn't hold on as they dropped to the University of South Florida in four sets (25-21, 22-25, 22-25, 19-25) Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars fall to 13-10 on the season, 5-3 in the American Athletic Conference. USF is now 11-10 overall, 5-2 in conference play.
Houston opened the match with a strong first set, hitting .281 with 12 kills and only three errors. The Bulls woke up in the second set forcing 10 Cougar hitting errors and tied the match 1-1 going into intermission.
Sarita Mikals led the Cougar offense with 11 kills and eight digs, hitting .128. Outside hitter Kadi Kullerkann followed with nine kills and three blocks.
UP NEXT
The Cougars travel to Dallas for a match against SMU Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. Houston will have a week off before they return to the Athletics/Alumni Center for round two of conference play as UConn and Rutgers visit Nov. 1-3.
