HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's tennis team will play its final home match of the season against Texas-Pan American at 11 a.m., on Sunday at John E. Hoff Courts.
Sunday's match has been designated as Kid's Day and fans will receive free t-shirts, pizza and have a chance to win autographed memorabilia. Seniors Giorgia Pozzan and Laura Ring will also be recognized prior to the start of the match.
Pozzan and Ring have both played integral parts in the Cougars' winning record this season. Pozzan is currently tied for the team lead with an 11-5 record in singles playing primarily at the top position, while Ring has served as a doubles specialist, leading the squad with an 8-2 mark.
Pozzan, a native of Lacchiarella, Italy, has made a huge impact on the Houston tennis program in her two seasons in the Scarlet and White, posting a combined singles and doubles record of 88-36. Pozzan currently ranks third in program history with a career success rate of 75 percent in singles play.
Ring has increased her career doubles record to 32-10 in three years with the Cougars and has teamed up with Liselot Koenen this season to clinch five crucial doubles points.
Houston enters Sunday's match having won three of the past four matches for an overall record of 9-7 this spring.
Along with Pozzan, junior Maja Kazimieruk has also claimed 11 singles victories and has won eight of the last 10 decisions.
