HOUSTON-The University of Houston baseball team will continue its quest of moving up in C-USA standings when it travels to Birmingham, Ala. to take on UAB in a three-game series this weekend. The weekend set will begin on Friday at 6:30 p.m., continue Saturday at 2 p.m. and conclude Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
The Cougars currently sit in eighth place in C-USA standings with a 3-8-1 conference record just behind UAB, who holds a 4-8 C-USA mark. Houston is 14-23-1 overall this season and 3-13-1 on the road.
Coming off a 2-1 series victory over Marshall last weekend at Cougar Field, the Cougars look to build on the successful weekend and move up in C-USA standings. The series win was the first since Houston won 2-1 at Oklahoma State back in mid-March. Senior Mo Wiley and sophomore Chase Wellbrock, who picked up wins, led the Cougars on the bump. Freshman Michael Pyeatt and sophomore Landon Appling each extended their hit streaks to seven and six games, respectively. Houston played all three games to a one-run decision and extends that streak to five games in a row, dating back to the series finale at Texas Tech two weekends ago.
A LOOK AT HOUSTON

Senior Codey Morehouse (.324), junior Jacob Lueneburg (.305), senior John Cannon (.303) and sophomore Jonathan Davis (.303) are all also surpassing the .300 mark. Junior Chase Jensen holds a .295 average, a team-high 43 hits and 29 RBI.
