Softball Hosts Texas Southern, HBU in Midweek Games

HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball program hosts Texas Southern on Tuesday and Houston Baptist on Wednesday evening in a pair of Bayou City softball games this week. First pitch for both games at Cougar Softball Stadium is 6 p.m.
Texas Southern (23-13) enters the midweek contest at the top of the western division of the SWAC with their victories over Prairie View A&M this past weekend. The Lady Tigers hold the fourth highest batting average in the NCAA (.341) and rank No. 16 in steals with 0.44 per game.
The Cougars are 13-0 against their cross-street rival and run-ruled TSU 12 straight games.
HBU visits on Wednesday evening and brings their 14-28 record to UH. The two teams faced off for the first time last year and the Cougars came away with the 6-0 victory.
Houston is coming off a weekend that saw them go 1-2 against league-leading Tulsa. All three games came down to the last out as Houston fell to 27-18 on the year.
UP NEXT
Following the games against TSU and HBU, the Cougars travel to Orlando, Fla. for a Conference USA series at UCF. The Cougars and Knights are locked in a tie for third place in the conference standings with both teams holding a 12-6 league record.
