Women's Tennis Falls Short Against Kansas, 4-3

LAS VEGAS - The University of Houston women's tennis team continued its string of one-point decisions, falling to Kansas by a 4-3 margin on Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas.
Saturday's match marked the third-straight 4-3 loss for the Cougars since their one-point victory over Iowa State on March 12.
Houston (6-6) dropped the pivotal doubles point as Kansas claimed decisions at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions before Charlotte Phillips and Maja Kazimieruk rounded out the scoring with an 8-7 win over the Jayhawk duo of Paulina Los and Maria Belen Luduena at the No. 2 spot.
Giorgia Pozzan evened the match with a quick 6-4, 6-1 victory over Monica Pezzotti at the top spot to snap a two-match skid and improve to 9-3 this spring.
Kansas (8-4) picked up hard-fought wins at the No. 2 and No. 4 spots to put the Jayhawks up 3-1 before Liselot Koenen earned her way back in the win column with a 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 defeat of Victoria Khanevskaya at the bottom spot.
Kazimieruk then outlasted Claire Dreyer by a score of 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 for her fourth-straight win to even the score before Celia Fraser lost in a third-set tiebreaker to clinch the match.
