HOUSTON--Coming off an impressive 12-2 win over Sam Houston State at home on Tuesday, the University of Houston baseball team will pack its bags once again and travel to Oklahoma State to take on the Cowboys in a three-game set beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Houston and Oklahoma State will continue its three-game series on Saturday at 2 p.m., and wrap up the weekend on Sunday with a 1 p.m. contest at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.
The Cougars enter the weekend with a 7-9 overall record and are looking to earn its first road win of the season after dropping all four away games last week.
Against Sam Houston State, junior Chase Jensen shined at the plate as he drove in five on a homerun, double and two singles, while scoring three runs for the Cougars. Also showing well was junior Jacob Lueneburg and senior John Cannon with two hits each, while sophomore Landon Appling drove in two on a double.
Junior starter Austin Pruitt earned his first win as a Cougar, tossing 5.0 shutout innings with four strikeouts.
Houston is led offensively by Jensen's .340 average and team-best 14 RBI. Lueneburg follows with a .300 clip and is tied with Jensen with 18 hits. Senior Jake Runte has remained consistent this season, hitting .293 and has drawn a team-high 13 walks.
Also seeing action in the rotation this year has been freshman Aaron Garza (3.93 ERA, 1-2, 18.1 IP, 11 K), senior Jared Ray (4.05 ERA, 1-1, 20 IP, 20 K), and senior Jordan Lewis (4.74 ERA, 2-2, 19.0 IP, 8K).
A LOOK AT OKLAHOMA STATE
Oklahoma State enters the weekend series with an overall record of 11-7 and are coming off of five straight victories over Alabama A&M and Arkansas Pine-Bluff. The Cowboys are led offensively by Robbie Rea with a .356 average, 20 RBI and four homeruns. Zach Fish follows with a .328 clip and 18 RBI. As a team, Oklahoma State is hitting .271 and is slugging .418.

HOUSTON vs OKLAHOMA STATE SERIES HISTORY
Houston and Oklahoma State will meet for the 85th time in school history this weekend. The Cowboys currently lead the all-time series, 45-38-1. The last meeting between the two teams came in a 3-2 win for the Cougars at the Houston College Classic on February 12, 2005. The series dates back to 1957 and Houston earned six of the first eight wins between the two clubs.
