NEW YORK CITY - Three Cougars set new personal records during the first day of action at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational as Karley King, DeMeeka Jones and Darrell Hill all claimed new personal best in their respective events.
"I was really pleased with the overall performance of the team today, head coach Leroy Burrell said. "We had a few athletes in the field who did particularly well in Jones, Reese and King. Freshman Darrell Hill was also especially impressive in the men's shot put."

DeMeeka Jones set a new personal best mark of 8.28 in the women's 60m hurdles as she finished fifth in the consolation round of the women championship division finals. Jones has now set new personal records in back-to-back meets.
Senior jumper/sprinter Reese also had an impressive performance as she posted a mark of 6.20m in the women's long jump, claiming fifth place in the women's championship division.
Freshman Hill led the men in the shot put as he finished eighth in the men's championship division with his personal best throw of 17.62m. Fellow throwers Jacob Schultz and John Fortune finished 10th and 16th, respectively.
