Women's Tennis Looks to Extend Winning Streak in Louisiana

HAMMOND, La. - The University of Houston women's tennis team looks to build on its four-match winning streak this weekend when it travels to face Southeastern Louisiana and Conference USA foe Tulane.
The Cougars (4-2) hit the road for the first time in over a month to take on Southeastern Louisiana (3-1) in Hammond, La., at noon on Friday before meeting a red-hot Tulane squad at 11 a.m., Saturday in New Orleans. The Green Wave are currently 8-1 and 2-0 in league action and are coming off an upset win over nationally-ranked Penn State.
Houston won its fourth-straight match against UTSA on Saturday, cruising to a 5-1 victory indoors at the Galleria Tennis & Athletic Club. The Cougars have won the past four matches by a 23-4 margin that includes two shutouts.
Senior Giorgia Pozzan continues to lead the Cougars in singles play with a 5-1 record, while Celia Fraser, Maja Kazimieruk and Liselot Koenen have all claimed four victories this spring.
The Cougars have made improvements in doubles play so far this season, posting a combined 10-5 record. The top doubles tandem of Pozzan and Bryony Hunter has posted a mark of 3-2 at the No. 1 position, while senior Laura Ring has recorded a perfect 3-0 mark with Koenen and Charlotte Phillips.
