Reina Gaber Named Conference USA Hitter of the Week

HOUSTON - Reina Gaber has been named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week following her weekend play at the Houston Hilton Plaza Invitational hosted by the Cougars.
Gaber hit .571 (8-for-14) with six runs and five batted over the four games during the tournament. She paced C-USA in hits, average and runs last week, while leading the No. 22 Cougars to a split at the Hilton Houston Plaza Invitational.
Gaber hit safely and drove in a run in each of the four UH games last week, including three multi-hit and multi-RBI games over the weekend.
The junior from Whittier, Calif. leads the Houston offense in batting average (.520), on base (.536) and hits (13) so far this season.
The award is the first of the season for Gaber and second of her career. It marks the second straight week the Cougars have won a weekly conference award.
