HOUSTON - Houston's Matt Hogan was named a Star of the Week by the Lou Groza Award two days after setting a Conference USA record with six field goals in Houston's 39-17 win over UAB. The senior also added three extra points to finish with a career-high 21 points in a game.
One of Hogan's six field goals came from 52 yards out to set a career high and continue Hogan's perfect season from at least 50 yards out. Hogan currently ranks third nationally with an average of 2.17 field goals per game and is 10th nationally in scoring with an average of 10.9 points per game.
Hogan leads all active kickers with 202 career extra points and is just 12 away from breaking Roman Anderson's school record in the category.
Hogan and the rest of the Cougars return to action Thursday night as they travel to Dallas to face SMU at 7 p.m.
