HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's soccer team dropped a 2-1, overtime decision to Tulsa, Friday night at Hurricane Stadium.
"I thought Tulsa set the tone for the game," head coach Susan Bush said. "We have to generate more good chances on goal and stay focused for 90 minutes."
In a defensive-played battle, both teams failed to put together many offensive opportunities early, as both teams combined for just 11 shots in the first frame, while combining for 21 fouls, setting the tone for a physical match.
In the 71st minute, Tulsa's Tori Peters scored to give Tulsa a 1-0 advantage. Houston responded to tie the game at 1-1 in the 74th minute when Sharis Lachappelle put the Cougars on the board. Kylie Cook made the feed to Lachappelle, before the freshman midfielder sent it into the back of the net from 25 yards out, sending the game to overtime.
In overtime, Tulsa forward Claire Nicholson scored the game-winning goal in the 95th minute, giving Tulsa the victory, 2-1.
