Houston - After winning the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup, the University of Houston volleyball team held a clinic for local youth Saturday evening at the Athletics/Alumni Center.
The kids gathered on the court for the Flo Hyman Clinic and participated in volleyball drills with members of the squad. Following 45 minutes of drills and interaction with the team, each member of the clinic received a t-shirt. Participants wearing the t-shirt to Houston's match on Aug. 31 against the Israeli National Team will receive free admission.
Following the success of the inaugural Flo Hyman Clinic, head coach Molly Alvey hopes to continue this tradition at future tournaments.
"We had a blast at the clinic," Alvey said. "We are excited for this event to continue to grow and will definitely be holding another Flo Hyman Clinic next fall."
"One camper told us that she just made her seventh grade team and she came to visit UH to see our match and have an opportunity to improve her serve for her volleyball season. She was a better server by the end of the evening and had a great time doing it while meeting the UH players."
The Cougars return to the court, Aug. 31 for an exhibition match against the Israeli National Team. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
