HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team worked through its final practice day before the action gets underway at the NCAA Stillwater Super Regional on Thursday afternoon at Cowgirl Softball Stadium.
The Cougars (43-16) survived their 5:30 a.m. departure from campus and arrived in Stillwater, Okla., for practice day at Cowgirl Softball Stadium. The team enjoyed a break from humidity during a two-hour workout on the same field the Cougars will take Friday evening for the Super Regional opener against No. 25/22 Oklahoma State.
"We saw some good things and bad things today," head coach Kyla Holas said. "The benefit is that we were able to point some of those things out and get them turned around and prepared. This is just the same game it was in February."
Houston defeated then-No. 20 OSU (40-17) during the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic in February, 3-2. Although that was the second meeting between the two clubs, this weekend's matchup will mark the first one held at Cowgirl Softball Stadium as the Cougars vie for their first-ever berth into the Women's College World Series.
Following practice, Holas and several of the Cougars sat down with ESPN's Holly Rowe and Leah Amico for interviews prior to ESPNU broadcasting the games this weekend. Friday's game one, Saturday's game two and three (if necessary) will all be shown live on ESPNU. Due to television scheduling, the start times will be slightly pushed back by five minutes.
