HOUSTON - Fans, staff and friends of the University of Houston softball team are invited to come out Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and wish the Cougars well before they depart for the NCAA Stillwater Super Regional, early Thursday.
As they prepare for their 6 p.m. CT night game against No. 25/22 Oklahoma State (40-17), the Cougars (43-16) will have evening practice at Cougar Softball Stadium. Prior to Wednesday's practice, those wishing to send the Cougars off and show their support are asked to join the team in the stadium at 5:30 p.m., for a send-off pep rally.
Seniors Amanda Crabtree, Katy Beth Sherman, head coach Kyla Holas and the rest of the Cougars will be out to talk to fans and thank them for their support as they continue their historical 2011 season.
The Stillwater Super Regional marks the second time that the Cougars have advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division I Softball Championship. Two victories against the nationally ranked Cowgirls would send the Cougars to the Women's College World Series for the first time in program history.
