Houston vs. Louisiana-Lafayette: Listen Live
HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team arrived on the University of Texas campus for a rainy practice day at the NCAA Austin Regional, Thursday afternoon.
Houston (40-16) will matchup against No. 24/25 Louisiana-Lafayette (49-9) in the opening round of the double-elimination regional tournament, Friday at 4 p.m. Fans can listen to the action for the first time this season by following the link above. Lincoln Rose will call the action for the Cougars' first NCAA Tournament game since 2008.
Minutes into the Cougars' allotted practice time Thursday afternoon, rain took over on McCombs Field and forced the team to complete its workout in wet, muddy conditions. Despite the weather, head coach Kyla Holas was happy with the team's focus as they prepare for the regional opener against ULL.
"I thought the team came out really excited to get on the field," Holas said. "We had to battle through weather adversity, which is something we will definitely see this weekend. I was happy to see how we prepared and what we accomplished today."
Regional host and overall-No. 3 seed Texas (44-8) will face Southland Conference Champion Texas State (33-23) to complete the one of the toughest of the 16 regional brackets, Friday at 6:30 p.m.
With inclement weather looming in Friday's forecast, any weather delays can be followed on Twitter (UHCougarSB).
Due to the increased volume of people expected on campus, fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid parking limitations.
