HOUSTON - The Cougars claimed 15 event titles at the Shirley Crow Invitational Saturday in Humble, Texas. Nine women claimed individual event titles along with the 4x100m relay team to earn the Cougars the team victory. The men took six events and finished in second place.
With only a few days rest before the Texas Relays, many student-athletes were limited in the number of events to compete in but the limited number of competitors took home more first place finishes than any other team in the competition.
WOMEN
The Cougars dominated the short and mid-distance sprints, winning the 100m, 200m, 400m 800m and the 4x400m relay. Grecia Bolton turned in the ninth-fastest NCAA time and a personal record in the 100m (11.43) to take first place. Tai'Shea Reese picked up second (11.66).
Floyd earned first in the 200m (24.04) as Brittany Wallace (24.68), Christie Jones (25.13) and Ngozi Onwumere picked up points for Houston placing second, fourth and sixth, respectively.
Along with Tai'Shea Reese and Christie Jones, those four women won the 4x400m relay in the eighth-fastest NCAA time (44.18). Another UH relay team (Reese, Harris, Floyd, Bolton) hold the fifth-fastest mark at 43.84.
Harris (54.80), Ciera Johnson (55.14) and Amber Sellers (56.94) swept the top-three places in the 400m.
Erica Hannemann turned in a personal best of 2:13.09 to place first in the 800m.
Alysha Cook was the champion in the 100m hurdles with a 13.96 time.
Nicole Benton won her first collegiate meet with a personal best of discus throw of 44.82m.

The Cougar throwers took two first place finishes and second place in the four hurling events. John Fortune (15.85m) and Rick Fenton (52.43m) both narrowly missed out on personal bests to take first in the shot put and hammer throw.
Andres Santalolla won the 5,000m in 15:47.22, setting a new personal record.
