Baseball Travels To Sam Houston State Tuesday

HOUSTON - After a 9-3 win over Sam Houston State at Cougar Field on March 15, the University of Houston baseball team will make a return trip to play the Bearkats in Huntsville, Texas at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Houston is coming off an 8-7 comeback win over UAB on Sunday to improve to 17-17 on the year and 4-2 in Conference USA play. The Cougars also knocked off No. 5 Texas A&M, 3-2, in midweek action at Olsen Field in College Station, Texas.
Sophomore Chase Jensen leads the Cougars with a .336 batting average with seven doubles, one triple and three home runs. Senior Caleb Ramsey leads the team with 11 doubles and 34 RBIs, while junior Matt Creel and sophomore M.P. Cokinos are one double away from reaching double digits with nine.
Sam Houston State enters the game with a 22-12 record after a 2-1 series win over McNeese State over the weekend. Chris Andreas leads the Bearkats with a .371 batting average with 13 doubles, one triple and six home runs.
Junior Codey Morehouse has been named Tuesday's starter for UH. Morehouse is 2-4 this season with a 5.30 ERA in 37.1 innings. He has allowed 22 earned runs, with a team-high 26 strikeouts. Sam Houston State will send Cody Dickson to the mound. Dickson is 3-1 this season with a 4.13 ERA in 28.1 innings. He has given up 13 earned runs with 28 strikeouts.
Tuesday's game is the second meeting between the two schools this season. Houston won the first meeting, 9-3, March 15 at Cougar Field. The Cougars combined for 11 hits and the pitching staff gave up just two earned runs. After the win in March, UH is now 75-74 in the all-time series against the Bearkats.
