Baseball Announces Summer Camp Dates

HOUSTON - The University of Houston baseball team is in the middle of its 2011 season but the baseball coaching staff is already gearing up for a summer of camps. The summer camp schedule kicks off on June 20 and runs through Aug. 7 with six camps available to kids of all ages.
The summer begins with two sessions of the Cougar Summer Camp for baseball players ages 6-14. A full day, costing $250 and half day session, costing $200, is available for both camps with session one June 20-24 and session two June 27-July 1. The weeklong camp is a developmental camp that will specialize in hitting, fielding, the proper way to play catch, video evaluation, game situations and much more. Each camper will learn fundamentals in all areas, as well as learn drills to take home with them. Campers will get to showcase their skills during games each day during the afternoon sessions.
The Cougar Junior Extreme Hitting Camp will take place July 6-7 for kids ages 6-12 and will cost $125. The two-day camp is designed to help campers develop their fundamentals and skills when it comes to hitting the baseball. Campers will be taught a variety of drills to develop proper swing mechanics. Video evaluation and strength and conditioning for hitters will also be conducted during the camp.
The Cougar Senior Hitting Evaluation Camp will also take place July 6-7 for $125 and is for campers ages 13-18. This second two-day camp is designed to help campers develop their hitting fundamentals and skills. The camp is a time for the UH staff and other college coaches to teach and evaluate players. Hitters will be taught a variety of drills to develop proper swing mechanics. Video evaluation and strength and conditioning for hitters will also be conducted during the camp.
The camp schedule will continue July 10-14 with the Cougar Summer Overnight Camp. The camp for kids ages 6-14 is a four-day camp that gives players the opportunity to develop their skills in all areas of the game. Campers will get a chance to showcase their skills during games each day and will get the opportunity to stay overnight in the dorms on the campus of the University of Houston.
The cost for the overnight camp is $425 if you chose to stay on campus. The commuter full day camp will be $225 and the commuter half-day camp will be $175.
The summer will conclude with a two-day camp, Aug. 6-7, with the Cougar High School Evaluation Camp for high school players only. It is the perfect setting to improve player's skills and showcase talent to college coaches and professional scouts. The camp was created to allow high school players the ability to display their skills in a pro-style workout, defensive showcase, batting practice and live game situations. The camp is designed for players who are serious about taking their game to the next level and who desire exposure to college coaches.
The Cougar High School Evaluation Camp will cost $220 and runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
