Track and Field Last Chance Meets

HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team headed out all over the country as the student-athletes attempted to lower their marks in hopes of making the NCAA Indoor Championships.
No Cougar reached the automatic qualifying marks this weekend, but a number of competitors stand just on the outskirts of the marks and may be invited to the meet.
Doug Kelley improved on his school record in the 800m and recorded a 1:49.93 time.
Chris Carter won the triple jump but did not improve upon his 16.12m/52-10.75 mark. Carter entered the weekend No. 10 in the nation.
Lamar Delaney improved on his season mark with his 15.79m/51-9.75 jump and finished second. Thomas Lang took fourth.
Kelvin Furlough shaved off 0.01 seconds to take his 400m down to 46.68.
DeMeeka Jones also took 0.01 seconds off her time to improve to 8.35 in the 60m hurdles.
Christie Jones earned two fifth-place finishes in the 60m (7.68)and 200m (24.43) events.
Karley King continued her stellar sophomore campaign with another second place finish in the pole vault. She cleared 3.80m/12-5.50
UP NEXT
This weekend was the last tune up before Friday and Saturday's NCAA Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas. The Cougars will find out Monday who will be invited to the competition as the results from this weekend around the nation are compiled.
