TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The University of Houston golf team continues a hectic week during a busy month when it opens play at the Seminole Intercollegiate on Friday at SouthWood Country Club.
This will be the Cougars' second tournament of the week. Houston tied for 12th place at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette, La., on Tuesday. At that event, freshman Jesse Droemer continued his steady play from all season, tying for 12th place on the individual leaderboard.
The Cougars square off against No. 18 Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Georgia State, Jacksonville, James Madison, Kennesaw State, Mississippi State, Mount St Mary's, Nicholls State, North Carolina, Charlotte, North Texas, USF, Troy and host Florida State on the 7,172-yard, par-72 course.
Ironically, the course was designed by Gene Bates and Cougar Golf legend Fred Couples.
The tournament will be played over three days with 18 holes each day, beginning at 6:30 a.m. (CST) Friday and Saturday and at 7:30 a.m. (CST) Sunday. The teams will start off holes No. 1 and No. 10 each day.
