HEAD COACH Todd Buchanan
On the change of momentum in the second half
"Courtney Taylor is the straw that stirs the drink for us. She flat out got after it today. Brittney Scott got the steal and the layup right before the half and I felt like that got us going. Courtney and Porsche (Landry) got us on a roll in the second half and we were able to control to tempo and make baskets."
On Rice's energy to open the game
"It was senior day and their emotions were running high. (Morgan) Mayse had 21 points in the first half and she's just a great player. We were able to make some adjustments and get back to our style of basketball.
"They whipped our tails in every facet of the game in the first half. Once we finally got over the hump, it was a heck of a basketball game."
On ever having any doubts on the outcome of the game
"Not at all. When we started attacking in the second half, I knew we were back. When Courtney stepped back and hit that 3-pointer, I knew we were going to win."
SENIOR FORWARD Courtney Taylor
On when she felt was the turning point
"At the end of the first half. We started trading baskets, and we realized we just had to start getting stops. In the second half, we started getting to the line and I think that's when the game started turning."
On if the team felt more energy in the opening run of the second half
"It was a matter of hitting shots. Our backs were against the wall, so it was time to get it done. You can't come back from down 20 in two minutes, so we just had to come out and get it started."
On what happened in the first half and what was discussed at halftime
"It was more of what we weren't doing. We were getting open looks, but the shots weren't falling and we were missing layups and easy shots. Our defense was slacking because our offense wasn't going right."
"In the locker room, Coach told us that we came back at Louisiana Tech and against Marist in Las Vegas, and that we just have to keep fighting. We knew that it was time to get it done."
