On thoughts on the game...
"Anytime you win, it's a step in the right direction. We have struggled tremendously and battled through some things we couldn't control. I was really proud on how Roxana (Button) handled everything today. She was really efficient with her 22 points. Amanda (Lawson) really turned it on and put in a performance I knew she was capable of. I though Michelle White played her best game as a Cougar to this point. That gets our balance and that's what we have been trying to get. That is what we have been lacking and with balance, not everything is put on Roxana. It feels good."
On the win affecting the team's spirits...
"I think that anytime with a win you can go back and put in a message and say you put in the work and this is where we are at. They know how the reward is in the end. This win does so much for their confidence and self-esteem. Their spirits have been so low. They are young, inexperienced and fragile. I tried to handle it every way I know how and now I finally said I will go back to my roots. That is to work your tail off everyday. We have to roll up our sleeves and go to work. I feel like that is what we have done. I am very excited about the win."
On Amanda Lawson's performance...
"Amanda got off to a great start. There are certain games and opportunities that come up and she capitalized on it. She was by far one of the top athletes on the floor. She was able to be really productive. She has to understand that she can't just do that for one half. She didn't have that same sense of urgency and explosion. She went back to some of her old habits from high school. She had her career game today though and that is definitely going to build confidence. Now she has to learn to not be satisfied."
SENIOR GUARD Roxana Button
On differences in the offense on Saturday...
"We put in a new look this week for us offensively. I thought we had a really good week in practice working on it. We were focused this week and we knew what we wanted to do and we made it happen today."
On Amanda Lawson's performance...
"I thought she did great. That's what we need every game."
On being the team leader this season...
"As a leader, you have to stay encouraged in order for everyone else to be encouraged everyday. Be ready to work and be positive every day. Coach B always says that you can have a bad day but nobody can know you're having a bad day. I've just been living that this season. It's difficult out there with Porsche (Landry) being gone. It's a hard adjustment but I think I'm getting there. It's a challenge everyday but we've got a win now so it feels much better."
FRESHMAN FORWARD Amanda Lawson
On what was different about this game...
"Personally, being more focused and wanting to win. For the team, we wanted it more."
On difficulty adjusting this season...
"It's been hard because I'm a freshman, but that's no excuse. You've got to play. You've got to step up and play for not just myself but my team. Lately, it hasn't been that way so it's been hard. We worked really hard at practice all week."
On if win will build team confidence...
"I think that we'll work harder now that we've got a win and it'll motivate us to keep working hard to get more wins."
