Track and Field Releases 2011-12 Schedules

HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team has released its 2011-12 indoor and outdoor schedules.
INDOOR SEASON
The Cougars are slated to start the 2011-12 indoor season on December 10 in College Station, Texas at the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational.
Following winter break, Houston returns to play host to the Leonard Hilton Invitational on January 13. Following the Leonard Hilton Invite, the Cougars will travel to Lincoln, Neb., for the Nebraska Invitational (Jan. 21), before closing out the month of January with the Houston Indoor Invitational, which is slated for January 27-28 inside Yeoman Fieldhouse at the Athletics/Alumni Center.
The final three meets leading up to the Conference USA Championships will take place during the first three weekends in February as Houston travels to New York, N.Y., for the New Balance Invitational (Feb. 3-4), and return to College Station for the Texas A&M Challenge on February11. The Cougars then head to Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU Twilight meet February 17 to close out competition.
The C-USA Indoor Championships will be held Feb. 24-25 in Birmingham, Ala., hosted by UAB. Last season the men's squad won their fourth consecutive C-USA Indoor Championship, while the women's team finished third.
The Cougars return to Baton Rouge for the LSU Indoor Qualifier on March 2. Houston student-athletes will then have one final opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, when they compete at the Iowa State Last Chance Qualifier in Ames, Iowa, on March 3. The NCAA Indoor Championships take place March 9-10, hosted by Boise State in Nampa, Idaho.
OUTDOOR SEASON
The outdoor season beings March 15-16 with the TCU Invitational in Ft. Worth, Texas, followed by the Rice Victor Lopez Invitational in Houston March 23-24. The following weekend on March 28-31, the Cougars head to Austin for the Texas Relays to close out the month of March.
The month of April begins with the LSU Invitational on April 7, followed by the UT Invitational on April 14. Houston will head to Walnut, Calif., April 19-21 for the Mt. SAC Relays before closing out the month with the Cougars competing in two separate meets April 26-28, the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. and the Rice J Fred Ducket Invitational at Rice University.
Tulane plays host to the 2012 C-USA Outdoor Championships this year May 10-12 in New Orleans, La. Last season the Houston men's team claimed their third consecutive C-USA Outdoor title, while the women finished third.
Following the C-USA Outdoor Championships, the NCAA Preliminary Round will be held May 27-28 in Austin. Individuals who qualify will travel to Eugene, Ore., for the NCAA Championships, June 8-11.
Houston returns six members of last year's team that advanced to the NCAA Championships. They include Errol Nolan and Wesley Bray on the men's team and Grecia Bolton, Whitney Harris, Tai'shea Reese and DeMeeka Jones on the women's team.
