Volleyball Readies For Weekend At East Carolina

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team will continue Conference USA action this weekend with a trip to East Carolina. The Cougars will play two matches against the Pirates beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday and concluding at noon Sunday.

Houston (10-5; 3-2 C-USA) is looking to bounce back from losses at Tulsa and SMU last weekend after opening C-USA play with a 3-0 record.
Junior Katie Norris leads a group of five Cougars with at least 100 kills. Norris paces the team with 164 kills, while senior Lucy Charuk has 159 kills and a .382 hitting percentage, the second highest in C-USA. Freshman Caitlin Ogletree has a team-high 596 assists and 16 service aces, while freshman Natalie Keck leads the team with 457 digs.
East Carolina is 2-12 this season and will be looking for their first win in C-USA after starting league play with an 0-5 record. Britney Roper leads the team with 110 kills, while the Pirates are hitting .104 as a team. Kasey Kavanaugh paces the team with 193 assists and Nicole Jones has a team-high 199 digs.
Houston and East Carolina have previously met 12 times on the volleyball court with the Cougars holding an 11-1 record in the all-time series. UH swept both meetings last season and the Cougars' only loss to the Pirates came in 2006. East Carolina won that contest 3-1 in Greenville.
UP NEXT
After two weekends on the road, the Cougars will return to Houston next weekend for a pair of matches against UTEP and UCF. UH will face the Miners at 7 p.m., Oct. 14 before closing out the weekend against the Knights at 1 p.m., Oct. 16.
