The University of Houston's online auction for Saturday's throwback jerseys from this weekend's Homecoming contest vs. Marshall are available for bid exclusively at UHCougars.com.
The jerseys will be auctioned starting with a reserve price of $150 per uniform. In addition, the auction will feature a pair of autographed jerseys, one signed by the 2011 Houston Cougar offensive unit and a second by the Cougar defensive squad. An autographed helmet featuring current Houston Head Coach Kevin Sumlinand legendary sideline boss Bill Yeoman will also be available for bid.
The online auction runs Oct. 17-31 and allows Cougar fans to benefit both Cougar Pride and the University of Houston Alumni Association scholarship funds.
The Cougars will be wearing uniforms and helmets highlighting one of the great eras of Cougar Football, the late 1960s and 1970s. Various design aspects of that era were added to these unique uniforms, which were worn while Yeoman ruled the sidelines. UH went 160-108-8 in Yeoman's 25 seasons at the helm of the program, including 11 bowl appearances and 10 teams that finished the season ranked inside the Top 25.
The 2011 Houston squad is also ranked inside the Top 25, led by Heisman Trophy candidate, Case Keenum. The record-setting signal caller is playing his final three games inside Robertson Stadium and opens that stretch next weekend vs. the Thundering Herd. The Abilene, Texas, native is just 130 yards shy of breaking the NCAA's all-time total offense record and needs just 1,178 yards to break the NCAA's career passing yardage mark. Keenum also needs just 11 more touchdown passes to break the all-time TD record as well.
Tickets for each remaining Cougar home date are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Houston Athletics Ticket office at 713-GO-COOGS.
