Tennis Continues Fall Action at Roberta Allison Classic

HOUSTON - The University of Houston tennis team continues its fall season this weekend at the University of Alabama's 24th Annual Roberta Allison Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Play will begin at 9 a.m., on Friday and Saturday, and matches will be held at both the Alabama Tennis Stadium and Alabama Rec Courts.
"I hope to see continued improvement this weekend and we're really looking forward to playing some great competition," head coach John Severance said. "Bryony (Hunter) will remain our doubles specialist while her back continues to improve."
The 16-team tournament consists of Auburn, Mississippi, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Chattanooga, Georgia State, Alabama-Huntsville, Troy, West Alabama, Middle Tennessee State, Northwestern State, Samford, North Carolina State, Southern Miss and UAB.
The tournament begins on Friday with one round of doubles and two rounds of singles, with two rounds of doubles and the final round of singles following on Saturday. Each draw will consist of eight singles players or doubles teams.
Giorgia Pozzan, Maja Kazimieruk, Bryony Hunter and Charlotte Phillips will all make the trip this weekend for Houston. Pozzan and Hunter will join forces in doubles play, while Kazimieruk and Phillips will pair up for the second time this fall.
Pozzan, a senior from Lacchiarella, Italy, highlighted Houston's previous tournament at the SDSU Fall Tennis Classic, earning three victories to claim her respective singles flight title. Pozzan and Hunter have won 12 of 18 total doubles matches together since last fall.
