HOUSTON- The University of Houston baseball team is looking to get back in the swing of things as they are just a month away from the 2011 season opener. The Cougars open the 2011 campaign with a three-game home series against Texas-Arlington at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 18. The series will continue at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 19 and conclude at 1 p.m., Feb. 20.
This season marks the beginning of a new chapter for Cougar Baseball. Head coach Todd Whitting is returning to his alma mater to take the reigns as head coach, becoming the eighth coach in program history. He brings with him a solid resume as a coach and as a recruiter. With Whitting in the lead, the Cougars' outlook is looking bright this season.
Each Friday prior to opening day, fans will be given insight on this year's team. The official website of the Houston Cougars, www.UHCougars.com, will preview one of the four positions each week. Check in every week to see what this season has in store.
January 21: Outfield
January 28: Infield
February 4: Catchers
February 11: Pitchers
Season tickets are available by logging on to UHCougars.com and going to the ticket page, by calling the UH Ticket Office at (713) GO-COOGS (462-6647) or by going to the Houston Athletics Ticket Office in the Athletic/Alumni Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
